Review # 4 - Wintersleep - Untitled

Today's review will be on another album ( yes, ill be doing movies too...eventually ). Today's album is Untitled, by the Halifax, Canada natives Wintersleep. This is much different than the previous music reviews, as it is an indie band, not a metal band as the previous have been. This album came out in 2005, and it in my opinion is easily their best.

With the music ranging from slow, piano driven depressing tracks, to upbeat, almost danceable tracks, this album has it all. Great production, vocals, guitars, drums, bass, keyboards, all fantastic. One of my favourite things about Wintersleep is their drummer; Loel Campbell, who is absolutely amazing. The first thing i notice in any music is the drumming, and with an indy band there is not a lot to work around with when drumming, but by god does Loel Campbell do it. The best part about him, is when he plays live he has a sex face...the entire time. Just fantastic.

Having been the 2nd album to be released out of the 4 that have been released, like most bands their sound has changed. With their newest release; New Inheritors being a little more mainstream, and less experimental ( by no means bad, still a great album ), in my opinion Wintersleep had their best sound on Untitled which is why it remains one of my favourite albums of all time. With amazing melodies, slow ballads that touch your heart, and just a great overall sound, this album is fucking awesome, and you should be buying it already.

Production: 9/10
Lasting Appeal: 10/10
Originality: 10/10
Being Canadian: :) / 10
Live Show : 10/10
Wintersleep - Untitled
9.5/10
